There are always so many things that we want to do, but we just either postpone them or ignore them for many reasons. And after some time when we look back we find that most of the things that we postponed have not been done yet.
The first question I would like to ask is: In the first place, why did we think of doing that thing? The answers that I have given to myself, over time, fall into "The heat of the moment", "Escape from routine", "I want to do it" dream, "To please someone else".
For instance,
Umpteen number of times, me and my friends; at college, at work, outside, thought about and planned to go to Goa (or anyother place) for a vacation. Most of the times, these discussions used to come up when we were at some party/gathering. The heat of the moment just carried us over and we ended up drawing elaborate plans to make the trip. But most often, these remained only as plans. The weekend that we were suppossed to leave, just came and went by; but none of us actually thought about making that trip.
There were a number of occassions when our team wanted to come early to office (say on a wednesday), get everyone together and order breakfast over some discussion, before starting the day. Though we did that on the first wednesday, we quickly lost interest and discontinued this 'routine'.
There are some things that I want to do; things that are 'over the edge' (to me), like bungee-jumping or wind-sailing or rock-climbing/rappeling.
There are some times when we want to do things just to please someone. I remember an incident, where I asked one of my friends to accompany on a visit that we were suppossed to make. He agreed to it and joined us. But I noticed that all through the visist, he was not interested in anything going around. Later when I asked him, I found out that he wasnt too keen to make the trip, but just tagged-along to please me.
The second question I want to ask is, why did we not 'do' the things?
Most of the times, I found out that the answer to this questions lies in not having enough time or money or just plain interest and enthusiasm.
Earlier, I used to get a little dejected whenever the elaborate plans that we used to make did not fire. But over the years I have come to take these with a pinch of salt.
I would like to conclude saying "Keep Dreaming and keep Planning, who knows when they might turn into reality"; that will be the moment to cherish!! :)
